Hopsin went above and beyond to connect to his fans. Well, figuratively speaking, WAY beyond. I can understand wanting to have a better connection to your fans but sharing your phone number to the public is a double edged sword. Hopsin, who is co-owner of record label Funk Volume, made the bold move to return and answer phone calls to his fans. The publicity stunt worked but worked too well.
About 400,000 people texted him and on the other side of the spectrum 400,000 fans called him. A photo was also shared by his business partner followed by videos of him supposedly taking calls and returning calls from fans. Really? Usually to get close to your fans, you give to charity or make the music that brings your fans closer to you. One of his fans decided to help Hopsin by starting a GOFUNDME Page to raise money for an outstanding $6,000 phone bill. The service provider he has must be really lenient with the bridge payments.
