Life

DTTX of Lighter Shade Of Brown is in coma.

1990-1991 was an epic year for my childhood. It was all about girls, sports and music as a teenager. I remember taping the Rap Attack radio show with one of my mentors, DJ Buz spinning the freshest wax. One song that always had me rewinding my cassette over and over from his show was one that consisted of strings, an oldies melody and laid back flows. The song was called “On A Sunday Afternoon”. The group was straight out of Riverside, California known to Hip Hop fans as a Lighter Shade Of Brown (LSOB).

According to sources, DTTX fell in to coma and is currently on life support at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.

LSOB consisted of M.C.s One Dope Mexican (Robert Gutierrez) and Don’t Try To Xerox (Bobby Ramirez) also known as ODM and DTTX. Of coarse there were dozens of Latin Hip Hop acts out there already, but it was something about these guys that made me a lifelong fan. “On A Sunday Afternoon”, “The Homies”, “Hey DJ”, “2 Lovers”, “Latin Active”, “Dip Into My Ride” and “If You Wanna Groove” were beatin’ the hell out of my Magnavox Aw7590/17Boom Box woofers.

An update on LSOB’s Facebook reads “God please help our brother. It’s in your hands.” Prayers to the Homie.
